About Omituaries Ed.
Omituaries Ed. is the institutional byline on early Omituaries work. It is a signature for the publication, not a person and not an anonymous writer.
What the byline means
The founder and editor need not use a personal byline. Work published as Omituaries Ed. has been checked against its cited sources by the editor, and the editor answers for it. Omituaries synthesizes the published record; it does not currently conduct firsthand investigative reporting.
Where editorial authority rests
For now, final editorial authority rests with the founder and editor. Every material factual claim is checked against its cited source before publication. The project does not currently use outside fact-checkers or legal reviewers, which is why our standards set a high threshold for serious allegations and omit what cannot be established responsibly.
Future contributors
Future contributors may publish under their real names or pseudonyms, but the editor must know and verify every contributor’s real identity. A pseudonym protects a writer’s public identity; it does not relax accountability or editorial standards. Writers disclose material conflicts to the editor.
How to submit a correction
